No. 4 Wittenberg puts an end to the Big Red's winning streak

Box Score

The Big Red entered their match with No. 4 ranked Wittenberg riding a season-long five match winning streak but the Tigers ended all thoughts of extending that win streak early on, eventually dispatching the Big Red 3-0 (25-11, 25-7, 25-11) from Springfield, Ohio.

The Tigers posted a .443 attack percentage and were led by Miranda Sagle's 12 kills.  Amy Cox had 22 assists to lead Wittenberg.

Denison was led by Lauren Strowder (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) who had seven kills and Claire Koneval (Solon, Ohio/Solon) finished with 11 assists.

Wittenberg improves to 19-2 overall and 9-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.  The loss drops Denison's record to 8-14 and 4-4 in conference play.  The Big Red will return to action this Saturday (Oct. 16) when they take on Ohio Wesleyan and Kenyon in Springfield at the NCAC's second "Power Weekend" of the 2010 season.
