The Denison volleyball team picked up their first victory of the season on Saturday in their third of four contests at the Mount Union Invitational.  The Big Red topped Westminster 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-18) thanks to Lauren Strowder (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) and Sara Mason's (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) nine kills apiece.  Strowder also added 4 blocks in the win.  Defensivley, Holly Leonard (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Twp.) paced the Big Red with 25 digs and Claire Koneval (Solon, Ohio/Solon) posted 42 assists.

In the final game of the tournament, DU suffered a 3-0 (13-25, 19-25, 20-25) loss to Case Western Reserve.  Mason and Strowder once again led the attack with 10 kills each, with Strowder also adding three blocks.  Koneval dished out 46 helpers, while Leonard registered 20 digs.

The Big Red will head into next week with a 1-4 record and will host Otterbein on Wednesday (Sept. 9) in their 2009 home opener at 7 p.m.
