The Denison volleyball team had two impressive performances, but suffered a pair of setback in the opening day of the Mount Union College Invitational on Friday evening in Alliance, Ohio.  The Big Red dropped a 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 25-14) decision to Adrian College in their first game, and fell to the host Purple Raider in their second match, 3-0 (28-26, 25-20, 25-17).

Against Adrian, Lauren Strowder (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) led the team in kills and Claire Koneval (Solon, Ohio/Solon) turned in 41 assists.  Holly Leonard (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Twp.) led the way with 25 digs.

Versus Mount Union, sophomore Megan Early (Findlay, Ohio/Van Buren) had nine kills and two blocks while Lenonard added 18 kills and Koneval paced the team with 31 assists.

DU returns to the court on Saturday at the Mount Union Invite when they take on Westminster at 12 p.m.
