The Denison volleyball team dropped a pair on the opening day of the North Coast Athletic Conference Power Weekend hosted by Allegheny College on Saturday. The Big Red dropped a 3-1 (25-14, 23-25, 25-21, 27-25) decision to Allegheny, and then fell to Hiram 3-1 (25-15, 25-17, 24-26, 25-21).
Against Allegheny, sophomore Lauren Strowder (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) paced DU with a match-high 22 kills, while Claire Koneval (Solon, Ohio/Solon) dished off a career-high 62 assists. Defensively, senior Holly Leonard (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) registered 30 digs, while Strowder blocked four shots.
Against the Terriers, Strowder racked up 11 kills and three blocks, while Konevall handed out 40 assists. Leonard recorded 32 digs to pace the DU defense.
The Big Red (1-15, 0-2 NCAC) closed out the conference power weekend on Sunday when they take on Earlham (10 a.m.) and Oberlin (12 p.m.).
