Rachel Mikulec

Rachel Mikulec is entering her second year as an assistant coach for the Denison University women’s basketball team in 2024-25.

Mikulec was part of the Big Red staff that was honored as North Coast Athletic Conference Coaching Staff of the Year in 2023-24. The 20 wins marked the most for the Big Red a single season since the 2015-16 season. Abby Cooch and Ada Taute both earned All-NCAC honors as first-year collegiate players. Cooch was named NCAC Newcomer of the Year.

Mikulec is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace University who earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics Education and minored in Athletic Coaching in 2019. She joins Denison after coaching at Newark High School from 2019-2021. During her time as an assistant basketball coach for the Wildcats, the team made back-to-back appearances in the Ohio High School State Finals, including finishing at the State runner-ups in 2021.

During her time at Baldwin Wallace, she was a two-time team captain, four-year starter and played in every game. During her junior year, she received the BW Academic Excellence Award for having the highest GPA in her class. Placing top-10 for blocks and field goal percentage in the Ohio Athletic Conference as a junior and senior, she led her team to the NCAA Tournament in 2019 as they made a run to the round of 32.

Mikulec is a Columbus, Ohio, native who graduated from Olentangy High School.
