Tyler Gallagher serves as assistant men’s soccer coach at Denison University. He just concluded his second year in the position in 2024.
Gallagher was part of the NCAC Coaching Staff of the Year in 2024. He helped the Big Red to a 15-2-6 overall record, a share of the regular season title in the NCAC and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Big Red advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for just the second time in program history. Jake Krueger and Kameron Kist earned Offensive Player of the Year and Midfielder of the Year, respectively from the NCAC.
During his first season at Denison in 2023, the Big Red went 12-5-3 overall while winning the NCAC Tournament and making the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the last three seasons.
Before coming to Denison, Gallagher spent the previous year as the Director of Soccer and the Head Boy’s Coach at the Hoosac School (Hoosick, N.Y.), where his team ranked in the top-10 among United States Prep Schools for three different weeks and finished the season ranked No. 11 nationally. In addition to finishing the year as the GESP (Global Education Sports Partners League) champions, Gallagher coached the league MVP and the co-goalkeeper of the year.
Gallagher was also the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach and Director of Recruiting at St. Lawrence University (Canton, N.Y.) from 2018-2021, earning 2018 Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year honors and helping the team to Liberty League Championships in both 2018 and 2021. St. Lawrence accumulated a 30-18-5 overall record during Coach Gallagher’s tenure as assistant coach and had two Conference Player of the Year selections, one First-Team All-American, two All-Region III selections, five First-Team All-Liberty League selections and 16 total all-conference players.
Before being promoted to assistant coach and director of recruiting, Gallagher was the Goalkeeping Coach for both the men’s and women’s soccer programs at St. Lawrence (Aug. 2017-Feb. 2018). He was also the Co-Director of the High Peak Performance Soccer Academy (2021-2022), was the creator of North Country Soccer Training (2019-2021), a winter and summer soccer training program for co-ed players ages 5-18. He was also a Head Coach of FC Freeze (May 2015-Mar. 2022), coaching u17, u14 and u12 boys.
Gallagher’s coaching career at the collegiate level began at his alma mater, SUNY Canton, where he served as the Men’s Assistant Coach and the Women’s Goalkeeping Coach from August 2016-May 2017. During his time at Canton, the women's freshman goalkeeper received USCAA Player of the Week, ECAC North Defensive Player of the Week and Second-Team DIII All-Independent Team honors. Two players received First-Team DIII All-Independent Team and three players earned Third-Team DIII All-Independent Team accolades.
Gallagher was a four-year student-athlete on the SUNY Canton men's soccer team where he started 44 of the 56 matches he appeared in. The Potsdam, New York, native posted 31 points on 10 goals and 11 assists during his career. His breakout season came during his sophomore year when he was second on the team with seven goals on his way to being named a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Honorable Mention All-American. Gallagher was also a three-time member of the USCAA All-Academic Team and following his junior year was recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as a Scholar All-East Region recipient.
Gallagher earned his National Coaching Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in 2014, as well as his Level 1 and Level 2 goalkeeping diplomas from the NSCAA in 2015. Gallagher now holds a Class D Coaching License through the United States Soccer Federation.
Gallagher earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Sports Management from SUNY Canton in May 2016 and earned his Master of Science degree in Sports Administration from Canisius College in May 2018.
