Four Members of the Denison Baseball Team Selected to CSC Academic All-District Team

Granville, Ohio: Four members of the Denison baseball team were named to the 2025-26 Academic All-District® Baseball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, to acknowledge the top student-athletes in the nation for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom.

Earning the distinction for this year were seniors Erik Sundgren, Max Fishbein, Ryan Paganelis, and junior Andrew Fazio.

Erik Sundgren (Outfielder | Senior | Pittsburgh, Pa.) - Sundgren notches his second consecutive Academic All-District® nod after receiving Academic All-American® honors last season. The senior applied mathematics major and economics minor is the lone Big Red player to play and start in every single game this season. The centerfielder player has slashed .376/.492/.685 with 22 doubles, three triples, and 11 homers alongside 62 RBIs and 40 walks. Sundgren leads the Big Red lineup with 32 stolen bases, eclipsing 100 career stolen bases this season. Sundgren's performance on the field and in the classroom has earned him the chance to advance as an Academic All-America® candidate.

Max Fishbein (Infielder | Senior | Atlanta, Ga.) - Fishbein earns his second career Academic All-District® honor. The senior data analytics major and economics minor has appeared in 45 games this season with 39 starts, both at first base and as the designated hitter. Fishbein has driven in 29 runs with a .367 average and four homers in his senior campaign. At first, Fishbein showed off an elite glove and recorded 267 putouts with a team-leading 21 double plays turned. Fishbein's performance on the field and in the classroom has earned him the chance to advance as an Academic All-America® candidate.

Ryan Paganelis (Pitcher | Senior | Batavia, Ill.) - Paganelis earns his first career Academic All-District® nod in his senior season. The philosophy major leads the Denison bullpen in appearances with 30 on the season. The righty has recorded a 1.70 ERA with a 2-0 record and a save. Pagenelis has delivered 32 strikeouts over 37 innings of work. 

Andrew Fazio (Catcher | Junior | Minneapolis, Minn.) - Fazio earns his first career Academic All-District® nod in his junior season. The biology major has made appearances in 44 games with 42 starts behind the dish for the Big Red. In the batter's box, Fazio has notched a .347 average with three triples and three homers. As the main catcher, Fazio has helped the Big Red pitching staff to a 3.07 ERA and leads the team with 336 putouts with a 0.997 fielding percentage. Fazio's performance on the field and in the classroom has earned him the chance to advance as an Academic All-America® candidate.

These four and the Denison baseball program are set to take on Endicott College on Wednesday, June 3, in pursuit of their first NCAA Division III Baseball Championship Title.
