Cleveland, Ohio - The North Coast Athletic Conference recently announced their Athletes of the Week for April 28, and five Big Red were honored. Baseball swept the awards, as Andrew Montero was named Pitcher of the Week, and Nate Lloyd was named Player of the Week in baseball. Madilyn Moffitt earned her second Pitcher of the Week award, Jack Yurosek was named the Men's Golf Athlete of the Week, and Bridget Sheehy earned honors as well.
Montero, a first-year from Upper Arlington, Ohio, earned his first career Pitcher of the Week award. In the team's 7-0 win against DePauw, Montero was surgical on the bump, pitching 6.2 innings, giving up two hits, one walk, and striking out 10 batters, posting a 0.00 ERA on the day. It was his third double-digit strikeout outing on the season, and was his fourth win, now making him 4-0 on the season.
Lloyd, a sophomore from Oakwood, Ohio, earned his first career Athlete of the Week honor after an incredible week at the dish and on the base path. Across six games, he started in five, going 12-for-19 (.632), scoring seven runs and knocking in seven, as well as hitting his second triple of the season. His best games came against Marietta and DePauw, where he went 3-for-4 with an RBI in a win against the Pioneers, 8-4, and 2-for-3 with a run and three RBI's against the Tigers for a victory, 7-0. He tallied a hit in every game and went 5-for-5 on stolen bases, showcasing his speed on the basepaths.
Sheehy, a senior from Pawleys Island, South Carolina, earned her second Athlete of the Week award in her career. Sheehy helped guide the Big Red to a 3-0 record through the week with a big-time upset win against No. 6 Washington, 15-11. In their game against the Generals, she had three goals and one assist for four points. Throughout the week, she scored eight goals and five assists for 13 points, and tallied two groundballs, two caused turnovers, and seven draw controls.
Moffitt, a junior from New Castle, Indiana, earned her second Pitcher of the Week award in just this season alone. On the bump in her lone game against Oberlin, she pitched 5.0 innings, only giving up two hits, zero runs, zero walks, and striking out four in a 10-0 (5 inn.) win. With the win, she now has eight on the year, and it was the third shutout this season.
Yurosek, a senior from Newport Beach, California, earned his first Athlete of the Week nod of his career after finishing in first place at the DePauw Spring Invitational. He shot an impressive -3 (67-70, 137) on the Pebble Brook Golf Club course. Yurosek's stroke of 137 also led the Big Red to a first-place team finish, where they finished with a team score of 562, a program record low for 36 holes, besting the previous record by three strokes.
Softball and baseball will be back in action today, as the Big Red travel to Mount Union at 3 and 5 pm in softball, while the baseball team gets back into conference action against Ohio Wesleyan at 3 and 6 pm. The Big Red women's lacrosse team will gear up for the NCAC Tournament as they host John Carroll in the semifinals on Wednesday, April 29, at 6:30 pm. And the 2026 NCAC Men's and Women's Golf Championship kicks off on Friday, May 1, through Sunday, May 3, at the Avalon Lakes Course in Warren, Ohio.Â
