GRANVILLE, Ohio — No. 9 Denison women's lacrosse claimed the NCAC regular season title and completed an undefeated conference slate on Sunday afternoon with a 20-3 victory over DePauw at Kienzle-Hylbert Stadium. The Big Red improve to 16-1 overall and 7-0 in conference play heading into the postseason.
The Big Red wasted no time taking control, scoring the game's first three goals and building a 5-1 lead by the end of the opening quarter. Senior Bridget Sheehy and Madison Goldstein each scored twice in the first period, while Grayson O'Marra and Josie Pruss also found the back of the net.
Denison continued to pull away in the second quarter, adding four unanswered goals from Emersen Thompson, Mary Martinson, Sophie Davenport, and Anie Savarese to take a commanding 9-1 lead into halftime.
The Big Red erupted for seven goals in the third quarter to put the contest out of reach. Goldstein added two more scores in the frame, while Sheehy, Martinson, Finlay Harmon, Pruss, and Thompson also scored as the lead swelled to 16-2 entering the fourth.
Denison capped the day with four more goals in the final quarter from O'Marra, Ellie Muldoon, Harmon, and Hana Asghari.
Sheehy and Goldstein led the Big Red with three goals apiece, while Thompson, Pruss, Martinson, Harmon, and O'Marra each scored twice. Eleven different Denison players scored in the victory.
