Softball Sweeps Oberlin Behind Hot Bats on Senior Day

GRANVILLE, Ohio. — Denison softball swept Oberlin in Saturday's home doubleheader, earning a 4–1 victory in game one before dominating game two 10–0 in five innings at Big Red Softball Field. With the wins, the Big Red improve to 15-16 overall and 7-5 in conference play.

Game 1: Denison 4, Oberlin 1 

Denison broke through in the third inning after a scoreless start. Emerson Seevers brought home the first run on a fielder's choice before Madilyn Moffitt delivered a two-run double to center field, giving the Big Red a 3–0 lead.

The Big Red added an insurance run in the fourth when Carley Melton lined an RBI single down the left-field line to make it 4–0.

Oberlin scored its lone run in the fifth inning, but Denison pitcher Brooke Surbaugh shut the door the rest of the way to secure the complete-game win.

Moffitt paced the offense with two RBIs, while Melton and Seevers each drove in a run. Denison finished with seven hits in the opener.

In the circle, Surbaugh earned her seventh win of the season after allowing just one run on four hits in seven innings.

Game 2: Denison 10, Oberlin 0 (5 Inn.)

Denison struck quickly again in game two, scoring three runs in the first inning. Seevers opened the scoring with an RBI double before Moffitt followed with a two-run double to right field for an early 3–0 advantage.

The Big Red blew the game open in the fourth inning, plating seven runs on six hits. Indy Workman started the rally with an RBI single, Melton added a two-run single, and Seevers followed with a two-run hit. Moffitt later singled home another run, while Leilah Ferrari drew a bases-loaded walk to cap the inning.

Denison totaled 11 hits in the nightcap, led by Moffitt with three RBIs. Seevers also drove in three runs, while Melton added two RBIs.

Moffitt earned the win in the circle, tossing a two-hit shutout over five innings to improve to 8-7 on the season.
