Three Big Red Named NCAC Athletes of the Week

3/17/2026 10:01:00 AM

Cleveland, Ohio - The North Coast Athletic Conference has just announced their Athletes of the Week, and three Denison athletes have been selected. Junior Jack Lutte was named Baseball Player of the Week, while the Denison men's and women's golf teams swept, with first-year Jack Pelletier of the men's and Natalia Fanucchi of the women earning the distinction after an incredible week.

Lutte, a junior from Venetia, Pennsylvania, had a dominant week at the Midwest Classic en route to a 3-0 record with a national-ranked win over No. 15 Adrian College. In three games, Lutte went 9-12 at the dish (.750 avg.), nine runs, and seven RBI's with two doubles. His best performance came in the final game of the trip against North Central, where he went 4-for-5, two doubles, and tied a career-high six RBI's in one game alone. Lutte currently leads the Big Red in batting average at .486, and it is his second NCAC Athlete of the Week award in his career.

Fanucchi, a junior from Carlsbad, California, shined in the Big Red's first event of the spring season at the Savannah Invitational among some of the country's best. On day one, Fanucchi carded a 71 (-2) for a career-low performance and tallied three birdies. On day two, she picked up right where she left off, finishing with a 72 (-1) and a birdie on the final hole to cap off her two-day stint going three under with a total score of 143. She finished tied seventh, while the Big Red placed ninth out of 19 teams. This is Fanucchi's second NCAC Athlete of the Week Award.

Pelletier, a first-year from Charlotte, North Carolina, impressed in his first spring event of his Big Red career. In his first round, he finished his day shooting just two over (74) in a competitive Hampden-Sydney Invitational. He improved his score by four shots on day two, shooting a 70 (-2) in what would be the best score for the Big Red overall. His final score of 144 earned him a top-10 finish, and finished even on the weekend. It is Pelletier's first NCAC Athlete of the Week Award.

Baseball travels out west for spring break, taking on Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, at 6 pm central time on March 17, while men's golf gears up for the Muskingum Spring Invitational on March 29-30, and women's golf heads to Richmond, Virginia for the Max and Susan Stith Invitation on March 30-31.
