Harmon Heroics Lift No.10 Denison Past No. 4 Gettysburg 11-10

GETTYSBURG, Pa. — No. 10 Denison women's lacrosse rallied late to top No. 4 Gettysburg 11–10 in their season opener, marking the program's first-ever victory over the Bullets at Clark Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Big Red (1–0) trailed by two entering the fourth quarter before unleashing a four-goal surge over the final 12 minutes to overtake the No. 4 Bullets and secure the road win.

Denison struck first when MK Barnhart finished a feed from Sydney Lavin just over two minutes left in the opening quarter, but Gettysburg responded with two straight goals to tie the matchup. The Big Red responded with consecutive goals from Grayson O'Marra to take a two-goal edge, but the Bullets answered with a pair of their own to send the game into halftime tied at 4–4. Gettysburg carried that momentum into the third, stretching its lead to 9–6 before Denison mounted its comeback. Finlay Harmon jump-started the rally with a goal in the final seconds of the quarter, and Anie Savarese followed early in the fourth to start the four straight for the Big Red. Emersen Thompson buried back-to-back unassisted scores to even the game at 10–10, setting the stage for Harmon's go-ahead strike with 58 seconds remaining to seal the 11–10 victory.

Harmon led Denison with three goals, while Thompson and O'Marra each added two. Bridget Sheehy, Barnhart, Martinson, and Savarese also contributed to the balanced attack. The Big Red controlled the pace offensively, taking 27 shots with 19 on goal, while Gettysburg fired 29 shots with 24 on frame. Denison's defense and goalkeeper combined for 14 saves, helping limit the Bullets' opportunities down the stretch. The Big Red excelled in clearing the ball efficiently, converting 17-of-20 attempts. Denison also won 10 draw controls and collected 19 ground balls, though Gettysburg edged slightly in those areas with 13 draws and 20 ground balls.
