SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The No. 6 Denison Women's Basketball controlled the second half and pulled away for a 74–57 road win over the Wittenberg Tigers on Tuesday night inside Pam Evans Smith Arena. Denison used a strong third-quarter surge to improve to 23–1 overall and 12–1 in NCAC play.
First Quarter: The Big Red weathered an early push from Wittenberg in a back-and-forth opening quarter that featured multiple lead changes. After trailing by as many as five, Denison got inside scoring from
Molly Dorighi and
Anelly Mad-Toingué to briefly take the lead late, but Wittenberg closed the period at the free-throw line to edge ahead 20–18 after one.
Second Quarter: Denison responded after the break with stronger defensive pressure and scoring to seize control in the second quarter against the Wittenberg Tigers.
Ada Taute sparked the offense with an early three-point play, Mad-Toingué added points in transition, and
Adelyn Moore knocked down a go-ahead three as Denison used a late free-throw run to build a five-point cushion and take a 34–32 lead into halftime.
Third Quarter: The Big Red used a decisive third-quarter run to create separation from the Tigers. After briefly falling behind, Denison answered with back-to-back threes from
Brooke Toigo and a strong defensive stretch that fueled a 12–1 surge, pushing the lead to double digits and carrying a 55–45 advantage into the final quarter.
Fourth Quarter: Denison put the game away in the fourth quarter, opening with back-to-back three-pointers from Moore to quickly stretch the lead to double digits. Denison controlled the glass and continued to score inside through Taute and Mad-Toingué before
Isabelle McFadden's late three pushed the margin to 20, allowing the Big Red to cruise to a 74–57 win over the Wittenberg Tigers.
