Delaware, Ohio-Â The Denison volleyball team continued action on Saturday following a 3-2 win against No. 3 Hope College on Friday night. In match one, Denison faced off against Albion College, falling in a 3-1 decision as Albion moved to 5-0 on the year. Later Saturday night, the Big Red took on Calvin University. With another 3-1 loss, the Big Red falls to 4-2 on the season.
Up Next: The Big Red travel to Richmond, Ind., for a Friday doubleheader at Earlham College. They will play the host school as well as Heidelberg.
Match 1(Denison 1, Albion 3) (13-25, 23-25, 25-21, 21-25)
Following the electrifying win over Hope on Friday, the Big Red were met by a tenacious Albion team. With things knotted at 3-3, the Britons would go on a 4-0 run to take control of the first set. Albion would go on to win 25-13.
Set two had a different story from set one. Denison found a spark early and was able to keep it neck and neck. Both teams traded leads throughout the set. Devon Moore caught fire late, recording four of Denison's last six points. Ultimately, the Britons were too much to handle and won 25-23.
Denison was able to change the tide in set three. After falling behind early, the trio of Maeve Perry, Clarie Halmilton, and Kate Sicklick got the Big Red back in action. Devon Moore hung three straight kills to take the lead. Albion would respond with a run of their own, but Denison was able to slam the door shut to pick up their first set victory.
In the fourth and final set, Sadie Habeeb capped off a 7-3 run with a service ace. Albion scored six unanswered before Denison responded with a run of their own. Even at 16 all, the Britons would go on to score seven in a row, capturing all momentum and sealing their 25-21 win.
In match one, Devon Moore led both squads with 15 kills. Kate Sicklick recorded five blocks while Alice Kempf nabbed 30 assists. Sadie Habeeb led both teams with 18 digs.

Match 2(Denison 1, Calvin 3) (23-25, 25-20, 11-25, 18-25)
In their third match in less than 24 hours, the Big Red were unable to gain traction early in their match versus Calvin. The Knights held onto their early lead for the entirety of set one. Despite an astonishing five-point run by the Big Red late in the set, Calvin claimed the first set 25-23.
Carrying forward the late run from set one, Denison did not trail once in set two. Scoring in chunks, the Big Red stole a 25-20 second set from the Knights to tie it up at one all.
The third and fourth sets did not fall in favor of Denison. Falling behind early, the Big Red were not able to get back on track, ultimately dropping the match 3-1.
Despite the losses, the Big Red squad was able to mark some great individual performances. Emily Monachino led the Big Red with 13 kills. Alice Kempf continued to dominate the assist column, grabbing 35. Whitley Metz led both teams with 18 digs.
