Granville, Ohio - The Denison women's soccer team returned to their winning ways after a 1-0 home win over the Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers. Mattie Mielke scored her third goal of the season en route to victory. Denison improves to 3-2-2 on the season while Rose-Hulman falls to 2-4-1.

The first couple minutes saw some scrappy play, as fouls were called between both teams. In the eighth minute, Isabella Guzman connected with Mattie Mielke for the first and only goal of the game, making it 1-0. It was Guzman's first assist of the season and Mielke's third goal.

Denison would keep up the offensive attack in the first half, recording five corner kicks and six shots compared to Rose-Hulman's two.

In the second half, Denison would continue their presence on offense, delivering five shots and two corner kicks for scoring chances. The Big Red outshot Rose-Hulman 11-5 and had five shots on target. Junior Lauren Jensen picked up the only yellow card in the 87th minute.

Senior goalkeeper Molly Noga recorded her third shutout of the season, and added two saves as well, bringing her total to 20 on the season.

Denison will travel to Ada, Ohio next Tuesday, September 23, at 7pm to take on the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears.
