Granville, Ohio- The Denison field hockey team dropped its second game in a row after losing to the University of Mary Washington 3-0 at Deeds Field- Piper Stadium on Saturday. The Big Red moves to 2-5 for the season, while the Eagles improve to 3-3.

After a scoreless first half, Mary Washington found its groove ten minutes into the third quarter. In the 41st minute, the Eagles' Lauren Boucher shot a rocket into the back right corner of the Big Red's cage to go up 1-0. Mary Washington would tack on a second goal with just under two minutes off a rebounded penalty corner. The Eagles' last goal of the game came in the final seconds of regulation after an unsuccessful clear following a penalty corner attempt.

The Eagles held a 16 to 3 edge in shots and a 12 to 6 advantage in penalty corners. Despite the offensive disparity, the Big Red's goalkeeper Therese Lucian tallied 11 saves across the day, keeping Denison in the game until the very last two minutes. Amongst those 11 saves, Lucien saved a penalty stroke and thwarted at least six penalty corner attempts throughout the matchup.
