Granville, OH- The No. 3(RPI)/No. 5(d3baseball.com) Denison baseball team hosted the 23-8 Ohio Northern Polar Bears for a midweek OAC-NCAC crossover matchup. Between the two schools, Denison leads the all-time series with a record of 9-4 and currently holds a six-game win streak over ONU. The Big Red ultimately came out on top with a 3-2 victory. With the win, Denison moves to 27-5 as ONU drops to 23-9.

Up Next: Denison will travel to Hiram to take on the Terriers in a Saturday NCAC doubleheader. With Hiram leaving the conference to join the PAC, this will mark the final in-conference matchup between Denison and Hiram.

Under the field lights at Big Red Field, two piping hot programs faced off in a Wednesday matchup. With both programs trying to keep their win streaks alive, the stakes were high for a midweek matchup. In the matchup last year, Denison was able to pull away in extra innings, winning in a 7-5 decision
Both bullpens used multiple arms in the 9-inning showcase. The ONU starter, Thombs, went 7.0 innings and struck out six. For Denison, Will Rettig got the start on the bump. Rettig went 4.2, followed by Michael Gray with 2.2 innings, and Jack Rollo with 1.2 innings. Together, the staff combined for 15 strikeouts and allowed just three hits. Rollo was credited with the win.

The Polar Bears struck first, tacking on runs off of a wild pitch and an RBI triple in the second inning. It wasn't until the seventh inning that the Big Red would strike back. Max Fishbein crossed home following a wild pitch, and Jack Rollo drove in Jake Blozy. After a scoreless eighth inning, the Big Red found themselves down to their final out with runners on the corners. Senior Eric Colaco stepped into the box and roped a line drive into right field. Jake Blozy crossed home to secure the walkoff win for the Big Red.
