Granville, Ohio- The No. 21 Denison women's lacrosse team surged past its conference rivals, Kenyon College, 20-11, thanks to a dominant nine-goal scoring frenzy in the third quarter. In its 20th head-to-head since 2008, the Big Red keeps its win streak alive over the Owls, extending it to four wins following this afternoon's matchup. Denison holds a 12-to-8 advantage in the series, and after its victory over Kenyon, the Big Red moves to 8-4 for the season and 2-0 in conference play. The Owls dropped to 5-7 for the season and hold a 1-2 North Coast Athletic Conference record.
Today's matchup between the Owls and the Big Red is a tale of two halves. In the first half, the two teams traded goals, and neither could pull ahead, leading to the score being tied at seven heading into halftime. Following what had to have been an impactful conversation at the half, Denison seemed to regain its confidence and showcase why the Big Red has been ranked in the top 25 all season long. By the end of the third quarter, Denison had outscored Kenyon 9-2 and held a seven-digit lead with just one quarter left in regulation. Though their scoring was stifled in the final quarter, the Big Red gave up just two goals and tacked on four more, solidifying its 20-11 victory over the Owls.
Leading the charge in both halves of play was junior midfielder
Mary Martinson. Martinson finished the afternoon with seven goals and ten draw controls. Fellow junior midfielder
Grayson O'Marra recorded four goals, one assist, and had three caused turnovers across regulation. Rounding out the multi-goal trio was senior
Anna DeVuono, who scored two goals and had an assist.

Caroline Brooks,
Maddie Chase,
Sydney Lavin, and
Madison Goldstein scored the remaining seven goals. Sheehy would also lead the team in assists with five, followed by
Sophie Davenport with two.
Despite the slow first half, Denison outshot Kenyon 43-24, held a 23-12 advantage in won draw controls, and recorded a 26-15 edge in ground balls. The Owls went 20-for-28 in clear attempts, while the Big Red were 17-18. Â
In goal for Denison was sophomore
Julianne Henigan, who finished the day with four saves; also in goal for the Big Red was
Cate Dannahey, who recorded one save. Senior Nola Garand played the full 60 minutes in goal for the Owls, recording 13 saves throughout the afternoon.
