Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

#16 Denison Men’s Lacrosse Fall to #18 Lynchburg at Home

Granville, Ohio- In their third top-20 matchup of the 2025 season, the No. 16 Denison University Big Red fell to No. 18 University of Lynchburg Hornets 15-9 at home. The Big Red dropped to 3-2 for the season, while Lynchburg moved to 2-2 overall.

The Hornets stung the Big Red right away, scoring three quick goals to open the first ten minutes of the first period. Lynchburg would stun the Denison defense throughout the first period putting in seven goals, before the Big Red regained their footing and scored off an unassisted goal by Jack Moellering with under 20 seconds left in the quarter.

In the second quarter, Denison held Lynchburg to just one goal and scored three of their own to cut their deficit in half. Unfortunately for the Big Red, the momentum gained in the second quarter was lost following halftime. The Hornets scored first, much like in the first quarter, and although Denison scored two goals to bring them within three, Lynchburg began to pull away with six minutes left in the third, scoring back-to-back goals for a 12-6 lead.

Down by six heading into the fourth quarter, the Big Red were stifled by the Hornets' defense, allowing Denison to score just three goals in the fourth, while scoring three more goals on the other end, giving them a 15-9 victory over the Big Red.

Lynchburg held a 48 to 43 advantage in shots and a 49 to 35 edge in ground balls. In extra-man opportunities the Hornets were 2-for-2, while the Big Red were 1-4. Lynchburg also won 17 of the 28 face-offs in this top-20 matchup.

Leading Denison's offense was Macky Peck, who scored three goals, and teammate Kevin Berutich finished the day with two assists. Lynchburg's Jake Rust finished the afternoon with six goals, and Liam Holman and Riley Hastings had two assists for the day. Denison's Andrew Albert and Lynchburg's Andrew Miller tallied nine saves throughout regulation.
