Raleigh, NC: The Denison University softball team dominated in day one of the Grand Slam Triangle Classic in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Big Red and over 30 other premier Division III teams from around the country have traveled down to Raleigh for this three-day softball spectacle. Annabelle Calderon recorded her 26th career home run, making her the all-time leading home run hitter in Denison softball history.

Game 1: (Denison 5, Elmira College 0)
The Big Red started its Grand Slam Triangle Classic weekend against the Soarin' Eagles of Elmira College. A back and forth defensive matchup between the two teams was finally broken up in the third inning after a line drive single from
Brooke Surbaugh brought in two runs to break the scoreless frame.
Annabelle Calderon tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning with a backside double to left field. Calderon later took home on a passed ball to record the game's final run.Â
Sydney Silverstein pitched for the Big Red for the full seven innings. She racked up her third win of the season and allowed zero runs on five hits, two walks, and four strikeouts. The Big Red's defense was flawless and did not record an error.
Game 2: (Denison 12, Meredith College 3)
Denison kept the late momentum from game one rocking into game two against the Avenging Angels of Meredith College. The Big Red blasted five home runs in a 12-3 victory.
Annabelle Calderon rewrote the Denison record books with her 26th career home run. This home run moves her to the all-time leader in Big Red softball history.
Jacqui Abogado hit two homers, while
Brooke Surbaugh and
Giavanna Gangi tacked on one a piece. Gangi's homer was the first of her career.Â
Surbaugh got the start and the win in the circle while
Madilyn Moffitt closed the game. Together, they allowed just three runs and sat down eight Meredith batters. Denison's defense continued to stay locked in, committing no errors for the second straight game
