Salem, Va: The Denison University baseball team closed out their three-game road series with the Roanoke College Maroons with a rubber match after the teams split Saturday's double header. The Big Red came out on top after defeating the Maroons 10-0 in game three, bringing their overall record to 5-1, while Roanoke falls to 6-5

Game 3 (Denison 10, Roanoke 0)
The Roanoke Maroons showed that any game could be won no matter the circumstances, after a walkoff victory in extra innings in Saturday's double header. The Big Red negated any momentum their opponents may have had from the day before with a slow and methodical victory in the series rubber match.
The Denison bats started out with two runs in the second inning off of RBIs from
Max Fishbein and
Jake Blozy. The Big Red racked up seven more runs with
Alex Vasquez picking up three RBIs alongside RBIs from
Andrew Fazio and
Cooper Marrs. Fishbein and Blozy each picked up another RBI throughout the day.
Sophomore righty
Peter Lemke picked up his first win of the season after a near flawless six inning performance. Lemke only allowed two base runners and retired six by strikeout. Lemke's classmate,
Sam Larson, took over on the mound in the seventh inning. Through the final three innings, Larson allowed zero hits and struck out four batters.
This game marks the first shutout for Denison of the year. The offense was led by
Alex Vasquez going 2-3 with three RBIs.
Andrew Fazio added with a 2-4 performance while
Max Fishbein and
Jake Blozy tacked on a pair of RBIs. Pitcher Pete Lemke picked up his first win of the season.
