Gettysburg, Pa.-The No.19 Denison University women's lacrosse team fell 16-6 in its season opener against No. 9 Gettysburg College. Big Red dropped to 0-1 for the season, while the Bullets improved to 2-0.
Gettysburg shut out Denison in the first quarter, going up 3-0 to kick off a challenging matchup for the Big Red. After falling behind by five goals, Denison's Â
Anna DeVuono put the Big Red on the board. Unfortunately for Denison, a big second quarter by Gettysburg extended their lead to seven heading into halftime.
Following halftime, the Big Red came out fired up, holding the Bullets to just two goals and scoring two goals of their own. Despite their efforts to stifle Gettysburg's offense, Denison couldn't find a way to slow the Bullets scoring. Gettysburg would net five more goals in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach for the Big Red as time wound down.Â

Julianne Henigan, who wrapped the afternoon with a career-high 13 saves, while Gettysburg's Juliette deVarenne tallied seven saves.
