DELAWARE, Ohio (Feb. 22) – Denison University men's basketball secured a 67-62 victory over Ohio Wesleyan University to wrap up the regular season and claim the top seed in the NCAC Tournament, and earn the program's first ever NCAC regular-season title.
Trailing 39-30 at halftime, Denison used a strong second-half surge to outscore Ohio Wesleyan 37-23. The Big Red took their first lead of the game with just over four minutes remaining and never looked back, closing out the win at the free-throw line.
Aidan King led the way with 16 points, knocking down four three-pointers. Darren Rubin added 12 points and three assists, while Trevor Reed finished with 11 points, including seven made free throws. Ricky Radtke provided a boost off the bench with 10 points and six rebounds.
Denison finishes the regular season at 22-3 overall and 14-2 in conference play, securing the program's first NCAC regular-season title. The last time Denison won a conference championship was in 1967-68, when the Big Red were co-champions of the Ohio Athletic Conference with Baldwin-Wallace.
Denison will host the NCAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed, beginning with a semifinal matchup on Friday, February 28, at 7:30 p.m. at Livingston Gymnasium.
