Box Score Saint Peter, Minn.- Denison's men's tennis team made a resounding statement in the opening round of the ITA Indoor Championships, overpowering the reigning champions, No. 7 Emory, with a score of 5-2. No.5 Big Red improved to 2-0 for the season, while the Eagles dropped to 2-1.

In doubles play, Denison's Ethan Green and Kael Shah stunned Emory's Ajay Kartik and Dean Kamenev 6-0, setting the Big Red up for a 2-1 lead following the doubles matches.

In the singles matches, the Big Red battled the Eagles for every point. Despite Emory evening the score to two matches apiece, Denison dug deep and shut down their opponents after winning three singles to clinch a spot in the semifinals.


Head Coach David Schilling shared that, "The guys played really hard today. They played with a lot of energy and passsion and it really helped us in the doubles and beyond. I am proud of them for their effort, but we can't celebrate anymore as we have a very tough match in the morning."
