Five Big Red Score in Double Figures, Defeat Lynchburg 83-74

Granville, Ohio - Ellis Appiah scored a career-high 16 points to help lead Denison to a 83-74 win over The University of Lynchburg for their fourth-straight win. The Big Red improve to 6-2, while the Hornets fall to 6-4.

First Half: The Big Red kept a nice four-to-six point cushion throughout the first 10 minutes of play, as three consecutive three-pointers from Liam Taylor, Aidan King, and Nick Heath gave Denison a 17-12 lead. The Hornets would fight back, as they would trade baskets heading into the four minute mark, but it would not be enough as the Big Red sparked a 9-0 run in the last three minutes to go up 37-28 at the half. Liam Taylor would pace Denison with eight points, and Luke Salkowski grabbed seven rebounds in addition to his five points. Ellis Appiah also added seven, with four of them coming in the 9-0 run.

Second Half: Denison started the second half slow, as Lynchburg crept back within one 46-45 with 14:34 left to play. A three from Taylor and a pair of free throws from Owen Giannoulias pushed the lead to five, 52-47. The Big Red then ignited another run, this time consisting of eight points, with Owen Giannoulias capping the run off with a big triple to make it 64-56 with under seven minutes to play. The Hornets once again would chip at the lead, but a clutch fadeaway mid-range jumper from Ellis Appiah as the shot clock winded down iced the game in favor of the Big Red, and pulled out their sixth win of the season, 83-74.
