Granville, Ohio - Senior Defensive Back Jonathon Higle on the Denison University Football team and Junior swimmer Jack Hill have been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week for the Big Red.
Higle helped the football team's defense with two key solo tackles and three different pass breakups. His performance helped the defense hold Kenyon to only 18 points, as Denison went on to win 33-18 against their rivals on the road. These five key plays that Higle had are a significant reason why Denison was able to create two turnovers, including a fumble and an interception.
The football team concludes its season with a home game against #9 John Carroll on Saturday, November 15th, for Senior Day.
In Denison's dual meet against Kenyon, junior Jack Hill swam the first leg of the first-place 200 medley relay alongside Liam Nelson, Asher Cole, and Nick Hensel, finishing with a time of 1:30.67. Hill, on his own, would earn two first-place finishes in the 100 and 200 free, recording times of 45.06 and 1:39.92, respectively. To finish out his day, Hill was part of the 200 freestyle relay team, along with Hensle, Harry Parsons, and Benjamin Coverdale, which recorded a time of 1:22.17, narrowly beating out Kenyon by a couple of tenths of a second.
Both Denison football and the Big Red swimming and diving teams take on John Carroll University this Saturday, November 15th. Football takes on the Blue Streaks at 1 p.m. inside Deeds Field- Piper Stadium, and the Denison swimming and diving team travels to University Heights, Ohio, for a 2 p.m. meet.
