#3 Big Red Draw in Midweek Conference Matchup

Granville, OH. - Following Saturday's victory in the conference opener against Kenyon, the #3 Big Red drew with the Fighting Scots of Wooster. With the tie, Denison's record goes to 9-0-2, while Wooster find themselves at 8-0-4.

The Fighting Scots drew first blood with a goal in the 36th minute, catching the Big Red defense off guard with a sudden shot on goal. The Big Red were unable to answer, and went into the half trailing 1-0. It was their first halftime deficit of the season.

As pastel-painted skies gave way to a full moon over Kienzle-Hylbert Stadium, the Big Red came out of the half looking like a much more energized unit.

In the 62nd minute, first-year Julian Bozzolo snuck one past Wooster's keeper to even the match. Sophomore Kaden Kist assisted on the goal, bringing his conference-leading assist total to six on the year.

Senior Kameron Kist found a crack in the Wooster armor in the 86th minute, but his shot on goal was rejected by Wooster's man in goal.

Senior jumpball-dominator Zarius Eusebe also had an opportunity to put the Big Red ahead in the final minute, though his header attempt strayed just wide.

Denison was unable to capitalize on the statistical leads that they held throughout the match. The Big Red outshot Wooster 19-5 and attempted four more corner kicks than the visitor. Additionally, the Fighting Scots tallied four more total fouls than the Big Red.

Both squads are enjoying promising seasons up to this point, and they will surely look to rematch in the conference tournament at the end of the season.

Up Next for the Big Red

The Big Red will take their next step in conference play this Saturday, October 11, heading off to Delaware, Ohio to face the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops. The match will commence at 7p EST.
