Granville, Ohio- The Denison field hockey team remains in the win column for the fourth straight game after shutting out Concordia University of Wisconsin 6-0 to close out Big Red Weekend competition. The Big Red improved to 6-5 overall, while the Falcons dropped to 4-4 for the season.
Denison jumped to an early lead following a penalty corner attempt. Senior Nina Casingal found first-year Lulu Keil, who positioned herself on the post of the Falcon's cage and deflected it in for goal number one of the day.
That same quarter, the Big Red would put in another corner goal. This time, Emma Gebhart inserted the ball and found Maddie Gaines, who then passed it to Helen Breen for goal number two. A minute later, Gebhart scored after sneaking a ball past the defensive line in a scuffle in front of the goal. The final goal of the fourth quarter was put in by Rachel Gilio, who recovered a loose ball following a penalty corner attempt to put Denison up 4-0.
Denison's final two goals came in the third quarter. Madden Phelps deflected a quick pass from Caroline Struzziero in the 34th minute of play, and Keil put in her second goal of the game after knocking in a skipped pass by Carter Davis.
The Big Red outshot the Falcons 22-2, and held a 15-0 edge in penalty corners. Five different players scored and assisted the goals in today's matchup, making it a well-rounded team win.

Denison travels to Greencastle, Ind., to take on DePauw University on Saturday, October 11, to take on the Tigers. The two teams will take to the field at 12 p.m.
