Women's Soccer Defuse the Blue Streaks with 1-0 Road Win

University Heights, Ohio – A first-half strike from junior Mara McGlone lifted the Denison women's soccer team to a 1-0 road win over John Carroll on Wednesday night at Don Shula Stadium.

McGlone opened the scoring in the 11th minute, finishing a 45-yard free kick from Reily Brinley with a one-touch strike before colliding with the Blue Streaks' goalkeeper and rolling into the bottom right corner. The goal proved decisive, as Denison's defense and goalkeeper held strong, keeping the Blue Streaks off the scoreboard for the rest of the match.

The Big Red dominated much of the first half, outshooting John Carroll 8-1, and maintained an 11-8 edge in total shots by the final whistle. Both teams recorded four shots on goal, but Denison's early finish made the difference. Both teams finished with four corners and the Big Red committed only five fouls compared to John Carroll's eight. Goalkeeper Molly Noga combined for her eighth shutout of the season.

With the victory, Denison improves to 7-4-5 overall and 2-1-3 in conference play, recording its second consecutive shutout. John Carroll falls to 10-5-1 overall and 4-2 in conference action.

The Big Red will close out the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 12 p.m., hosting Kenyon College at Kienzle-Hylbert Stadium in Granville, Ohio. Denison will look to carry this momentum into its final regular-season matchup and await the conference's postseason decisions.
