Denison Falls to DePauw in Midweek Conference Matchup

Greencastle, Ind. - Denison traveled to DePauw in an North Coast Athletic Conference matchup that ultimately resulted in a 1-0 loss. Denison falls to a 6-4-4 record, with a 1-1-2 conference record, while DePauw moves to 9-5-1 with a 3-2 record in conference play. 

The first half was off to a slow start as there were only three shots on goal from either team. The first shot came from Lucy Perkins six minutes into the game, but could not connect. After both teams went back and forth for most of the half, Denison was able to fire off a couple shots from Kendall Sierens and Della Hawkins as last efforts. Those shots would be saved as the first half ended with the score being 0-0.

Denison led in shots at the end of the first half with a 6-3 advantage, with three being on target. The Big Red only had one corner late in the half, but were unable to take advantage.

To start the second half, Molly Noga got her first save of the game six minutes in. At the 65th minute mark, Denison had an unfortunate own goal, which led to a DePauw 1-0 lead. This would be the lone goal of the game, as the Big Red had two shots on goal within the last 10 minutes of the game, both from Maryn Zavislak, but could not get the equalizer.

Denison finished the game with 11 shots, five being on goal, while DePauw only had four shots, with only one on target. 

Up next for the Big Red
The Big Red returns home and looks to bounce back, on Saturday, October 15. Denison and Wittenberg will take to the field at 1 p.m.
