No. 19 Denison Stays Perfect in Conference Play with 90-67 Victory over Hiram

GRANVILLE, Ohio (Jan. 18) — The No. 19 Denison Big Red (15-1, 7-0 NCAC) maintained their perfect conference record with a commanding 90-67 win over the Hiram Terriers (6-11, 1-7 NCAC) Saturday afternoon.

The Big Red surged ahead early, shooting 56.3% from the field in the first half to take a 52-35 lead into the break. Denison's defensive pressure and balanced scoring proved too much for Hiram to overcome, as the Big Red extended their lead in the second half and cruised to victory.

Scotty Dean led the charge for Denison with 20 points, including an impressive 6-for-8 shooting from three-point range. Kellon Smith followed with 17 points, five rebounds, and one assist, while Trevor Reed added 12 points and four steals. Gates Flynn contributed 10 points off the bench, and Aidan King chipped in eight points, including a fastbreak dunk.

Denison's depth played a pivotal role, with 46 points coming from their bench. The Big Red also excelled defensively, forcing 14 Hiram turnovers and converting them into 18 points.

The Big Red shot an efficient 50.8% from the field, including 44.8% from beyond the arc. Denison also capitalized on their trips to the free-throw line, making 17 of 22 attempts.

With the win, Denison improves to 15-1 overall and 7-0 in NCAC play. The Big Red will look to continue their stellar season as they travel to take on no. 6 Wooster on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 7:45 p.m.
