GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Sept. 6) – The Denison University volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback to second-ranked Hope College in Friday afternoon action at the MIAA/NCAC crossover event in Grand Rapids, Mich. The two-day event is being hosted by Calvin University.
Hope, who finished last season with a 32-3 mark and as the NCAA Division III runner-up, improves to 4-0 in 2024. Denison drops to 1-3 overall this season.
The Flying Dutchmen picked up the win in straight sets by scores of 25-15, 25-20 and 25-18.
Claire Hamilton led the Big Red with nine kills.
Ayla Dunbar and
Reagan Sass added five successful kills apiece.
Alice Kempf finished with 13 assists.
Sadie Habeeb tallied a match-high 13 digs in the loss.
Denison returns to action in Michigan with a pair of matches on Saturday. The Big Red faces Albion College (10:30 a.m.) and 18th ranked Calvin University at 3:30 p.m.
