Women’s Soccer picks up shutout win at W&J


WASHINGTON, Pa. (Sept. 27) – A pair of first half goals powered the Denison University women's soccer team to a non-conference win at Washington & Jefferson Friday evening at Alexandre Stadium. 
 
Denison, who controlled play throughout the contest, took a 1-0 lead with a score in the 20th minute of play. Mara McGlone was able to score from just in front of the net after a pass from the left end line by Megan Mulvey
 
The goal was the first of the season for McGlone. Mulvey's assist was her team-leading third of the season. 

Eliza Roach added to the Big Red's lead with an unassisted score in the 33rd minute. The goal was the first of the season for Roach. 
 
Denison posted a 33-0 advantage in shots. Additionally, the Big Red recorded all four corner kicks in the contest. 
 
Caroline Flynn and Lola Tirabassi both recorded five shots to pace the offensive efforts. 
 
Wynne Hague and Molly Noga split the time in goal for Denison. W&J did not put any shots on goal over the 90 minutes.
 
The Big Red improve to 4-3-2 overall. The loss drops the Presidents to 4-4-1. 
 
Denison returns home to face Wilmington College at Kienzle-Hylbert Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 2. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
