GRANVILLE, Ohio (February 28, 2024) – The No. 18 Denison University men's lacrosse team hosted Baldwin Wallace University on Wednesday evening in the second-ever game at the new Kienzle-Hylbert Stadium Piper Stadium in Granville, and in the end, the Big Red came out on top by 14 goals, 19-5, over the Yellow Jackets.
Denison (2-1 overall) shut out BWU (0-3) 4-0 in both the first and fourth quarters while also winning the second quarter by a four-goal margin (6-2).
The Big Red led 4-0 after back-to-back goals by
Tommy Quinson midway through the first quarter, and then back-to-back goals by
Luke Fisher in the second quarter started a 6-0 Denison run that made it 10-1 late in the first half.
Nate Kay and
Clyde Bresnahan both recorded four goals while Fisher and Quinson both had three goals.
The contest also featured the first-career goals for sophomore
Michael Cassidy and freshmen
Charlie Haight and
Brady Monturio.
Colin MacLean was 12-for-16 on the faceoff and added a game-high seven groundballs.
On defense, Quinson and
Owen Holder both finished with three caused turnovers while
Charlie Pellegrino,
Jack Sload and
Owen O'Neill each had two, and
Andrew Albert made a career-high 12 saves.
Next up, Denison will begin a stretch of three straight matchups against fellow nationally-ranked opponents beginning with a road contest at No. 13 Washington & Lee University starting at 12 p.m. on Sunday, March 3.
