GRANVILLE, Ohio (Dec. 4) – The Denison University men's basketball team rolled to a commanding 97-56 victory over visiting Oberlin College in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday evening at Livingston Gymnasium.

Denison put three players in double figures scoring. Senior guard Darren Rubin poured in a game-high 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting including three made triples. First-year Liam Taylor provided 13 points and four rebounds off the bench. Sophomore Trevor Reed chipped in 11 points off the bench.

A total of 13 Big Red players scored in the lopsided win that improved Denison to 5-0 on the season. Oberlin drops its second-straight game to fall to 5-2 overall and 0-2 in NCAC play.

Strong shooting guided the Big Red to the 41-point victory. Denison converted at a 54.3 percent clip from the field (38-of-70) and 15-of-31 from three-point range (48.4 percent).

The Big Red put together sizable advantages in rebounding (42-31), bench points (54-34) and points off turnovers (24-8). Quick ball movement was rewarded, as Denison garnered 27 assists on 38 made baskets.

Meanwhile, the Yeomen made just 21 field goals and committee 17 turnovers, as Denison continued its strong defensive efforts to start the season.
