ROCHESTER, N.Y. (September 3, 2023) – The Denison University field hockey team concluded its season-opening trip to New York with a 4-0 loss at No. 18 nationally-ranked the University of Rochester on Sunday.

The lone shot of the game for Denison (0-2 overall) was a blocked shot off the stick of Tabitha Chandler in the 45th minute in between a pair of penalty corners by Kate Hinshaw.

Rochester (2-0), meanwhile, got two goals each from Zoe Conomikes (15th minute; 59th minute) and Maeve Fogarty (38th minute; 41st minute).

Athena Joannou made six saves in goal for the Big Red.

Next up, Denison's 2023 home opener will see the Big Red take on another nationally-ranked team in the form of No. 16 Washington and Lee University. The two teams will square off starting at 11 a.m. on Sunday, September 10, from Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.
