Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s soccer finishes with 0-0 draw vs. Albion

GRANVILLE, Ohio (September 13, 2023) – The third match of a four-match homestand for the Denison University women's soccer team resulted in a second straight tie for the Big Red, this time a 0-0 decision against Albion College on Wednesday evening inside Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.

It was the first-ever meeting between Denison (2-0-3 overall) and Albion (1-1-2), which was taking on its third-straight North Coast Athletic Conference opponent after defeating Ohio Wesleyan University 2-1 in its second match of the season (Sept. 2) before tying Wittenberg University 1-1 this past weekend (Sept. 9).

The first shot from either team saw a great pass from Mara McGlone find Callie Davis for an open shot that was saved by Albion goalkeeper Romee Natschke nine minutes in.

Then in the 14th minute, a corner kick by Caroline Flynn resulted in a header by McGlone that was just knocked up and over the goal by Natschke.

Molly Noga had to make a save on a one-vs.-one opportunity for Albion in the 37th minute to keep it scoreless.

A long shot from over 25 yards out by Eliza Roach missed just high in the 39th minute, and then a pair of shots by the Britons in the 41st minute were both blocked by the Big Red defense before Noga made her second save 26 seconds later following what would be the final corner kick of the match by Albion.

After Albion outshot Denison 5-4 in the opening 45 minutes, it was the Big Red who outshot the Britons 6-1 in the second half.

Natschke made four saves in the second half on shots by Sophia Connell (54th minute), Roach (65th minute), Isabella Guzman (79th minute) and McGlone (83rd minute) while Noga made the save on the final shot of the match in the final two minutes.

McGlone and Roach led Denison with two shot attempts each while Noga finished with three saves and her second shutout of the year.

Denison will wrap up its current homestand against Centre College at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 16 in Granville.
