Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women’s lacrosse earns 20-4 win at Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio (April 15, 2023) – Led by seven points from senior Allaire Kotz for the second game in a row, the Denison University women's lacrosse team scored nine goals in the first quarter and seven in the second quarter as the Big Red routed Oberlin College 20-4 on the road on Saturday.

Emma Repke scored on the assist from Kotz less than 30 seconds into the game, and then Kotz scored two minutes later on a free position shot.

Josie Lucchesi recorded back-to-back assists on goals by Mary Martinson and Maddie Morrell just one minute apart to make it 4-0 Big Red just over five minutes in.

Kotz, Martinson and Bridget Sheehy each finished with two goals in the opening quarter.

For the game, Kotz finished with three goals and four assists while Lucchesi (1 goal, 3 assists) had four points and Repke (3 goals), Martinson (3 goals) and Sheehy (2 goals, 1 assist) each had three points. In addition, Caroline Brooks, Anna DeVuono and Merrill Rollhaus each added two goals.

For Lucchesi, her three assists were a new career-high while Repke's hat trick was her first of the season and Brooks' and Sheehy's two goals were each their first two goals of the season.

For Martinson, who has scored seven goals through Denison's first three conference games, it was the second time this season as a freshman she has scored three goals.

Kotz, meanwhile, leads the Big Red with 10 goals already in conference play.

In addition to improving to 5-8 overall and 3-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, Denison is now 28-0 against Oberlin (6-7, 0-3) since 1999.

Denison will host its final two home games of the regular season next week, starting with DePauw University at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19. Then on Saturday, April 22, the Big Red will look to get revenge against No. 22 Kenyon College after it was Kenyon that snapped Denison's 45-game regular-season conference winning streak with an 8-6 win during the regular season last year. The Big Red then fell 12-10 to Kenyon in the NCAC Tournament championship game as well.
