GRANVILLE, Ohio (March 29, 2023) – Playing at home for the first time in its 2023 season, the No. 15 Denison University baseball team defeated Adrian College for the third time in the last four days, winning by a score of 17-4 at the Big Red Baseball Field.
Denison got on the board in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI-groundout to shortstop by
Alex Vasquez before a single up the middle by
Erik Sundgren to make it 2-0.
The Big Red then put up seven runs in a bottom of the fifth inning that started off with a triple to center field by
Noah Leib and featured RBI-doubles by
Eli Aronson,
Eric Colaco,
Charlie Glennon and then Leib as the Big Red batted around.
The Big Red would finish the game with seven total doubles, including two by Colaco and one by
Connor Miller and
Bobby Haarde.
Colaco and Leib were both 3-for-4 while Colaco added three RBI's.
Denison's starting pitcher,
Will Rettig, pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the first and third innings and held the Bulldogs hitless through his four innings before giving way to the bullpen.
Denison improves to 12-4 with the win while Adrian, which had bounced back from its sweep at the hands of the Big Red on Sunday to sweep Ohio Wesleyan University on Tuesday, fell to 8-10 overall.
Denison will remain at home this weekend to open up North Coast Athletic Conference action as the Big Red host Wabash College starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 1.
