YORK, Pa. (May 14, 2022) – The No. 19 Denison University men's lacrosse team saw its first season under the direction of Head Coach
Eric Koch came to an end as the Big Red fell to No. 6 nationally-ranked York College of Pennsylvania by a final score of 16-4 on Saturday night at York's Kinsley Field.
After
Luke Fisher found
Camden Bowdy for a goal to make it 1-1 less than four minutes into the game, the Big Red allowed 14 straight goals until
Clyde Bresnahan scored to make it 15-2 with 12:33 left in the game.
Ethan Tyack then netted back-to-back goals, the second of which featured the second assist of the game by Fisher to make it 15-4 with nine minutes to go.
The Big Red were outshot 14-2 in the first quarter and won only one of six faceoffs, and were outshot 26-9 in all for first half while committing 10 turnovers and winning only three of 14 faceoffs.
The Big Red were led in groundballs by
Owen O'Neill with four while he,
Brooks Crowley and
Andrew Brim each caused a pair of turnovers.
Goalkeeper
Archer Darrach finished with 14 saves, and recorded double-digit saves in each of his last four games of the season. Fisher, meanwhile, finished with two assists in three of his last four games of the year.
Denison finishes its first season under Coach Koch with a 16-5 overall record, which is tied for the fifth most wins in a single season in program history. Additionally, Denison's 323 goals and 510 points this year both rank third in program history while its 187 assists are fourth.
York, meanwhile, improves to 19-2 with a school record 17 wins in a row. The Spartans only losses this season have come against teams ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in all of NCAA Division III at the time. Additionally, York is now 12-6 all-time in the NCAA Division III Tournament, and will advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament for the fourth straight year.
