GRANVILLE, Ohio (April 16, 2022) – Three Big Red players tied their career-highs in points as the No. 24 Denison University women's lacrosse team defeated Oberlin College 19-5 on Saturday inside Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.
Junior
Jane Bailey finished with four goals and two assists to tie her career-high with six points, sophomore
Ashley Viglione had two goals and three assists to tie her career-best of five points, and fellow sophomore
Josie Lucchesi had three goals and one assist to tie her high of four points.
Additionally,
Casey McTague recorded a hat trick for the eighth time in her 11 games played this season while
Jane Lukens scored two goals for the second game in a row and
Emma Repke also scored twice.
Bailey, McTague, Viglione and Lukens each scored twice in the first half while the Big Red defense limited Oberlin to only one goal in each of the final three quarters, including only four total shots in the second half.
Annie Rau led Denison defensively, finishing with four groundballs and three caused turnovers.
Lastly, freshman goalkeeper
Audrey Hughes started the second half and logged a career-high 30 minutes while making two saves.
In addition to improving to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference on the season, Denison is now 27-0 against Oberlin (4-8, 0-3) since 1999.
Next up, Denison's final road game of the regular season will see the Big Red travel to Greencastle, Indiana, to take on DePauw University starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20. The Tigers entered the weekend as one of only two NCAC teams without a conference loss on the year before losing 9-8 at Kenyon College on Saturday.
