Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women’s lacrosse wins final road game 17-7 at DePauw

GREENCASTLE, Ind. (April 20, 2022) – The Denison University women's lacrosse team played in its final road game of the 2022 regular season on Wednesday night, defeating DePauw University 17-7 behind eight points from Casey McTague, seven from Jane Bailey and five by Josie Lucchesi.

After McTague scored the first goal of the game with 11:43 left in the first quarter, DePauw tied it less than 30 seconds later before a 4-0 Denison run bookended with goals by McTague made it 5-1 with just under seven minutes left in the opening frame.

McTague then went on to score three more times in the second quarter as Denison led it 11-4 at the half, and then the Big Red scored the first four goals of the third quarter to go up by 10 at 14-4, still with 10:54 left in the third period.

In the end, McTague finished with seven goals and one assist while Bailey had two goals and a career-high five assists and Lucchesi had three goals and two assists to record her second hat trick in a row.

Ashley Viglione added one goal and two assists and Emma Repke scored two goals for the second game in a row.

Denison improved to 9-4 overall, 5-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference and 9-0 all-time against DePauw since the Tigers began playing in 2013. DePauw, meanwhile, dropped to 10-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference and suffered its first home loss of the season (2-1) after trying to rebound against the Big Red after having its seven-game winning streak snapped in a close 9-8 loss at Kenyon College last Saturday.

Denison's next game will be a tough matchup at home against the No. 4 nationally-ranked team in NCAA Division III, Washington and Lee University, as the Big Red look to gear up for a potentially long postseason run after reaching the NCAA Final Four just a season ago. The Big Red and the Generals have not played each other since a 13-5 win for W&L during the second round of the NCAA Tournament back in 2014, Head Coach Amanda Daniels' first with the program.
