GRANVILLE, Ohio (September 4, 2021) – The Denison University men's soccer team scored all five of its goals in the second half and defeated Muskingum University 5-0 in what was the 2021 home opener for the Big Red on Saturday night on Barclay-Thomsen Field.
The scoring spree in the second half started with a goal five and half minutes into the period by freshman
Cameron McIntosh and assisted by senior
Stuart Windell.
Vitor Rocha scored six and a half minutes later in the 58th minute,
Luca Vicinelli scored in the 65th minute,
Burke McLaughlin scored in the 66th minute, and lastly,
Htoo Eh Redford-Maung Maung scored in the 80th minute off the assist by
Lucas Lilley.
None of the 26 Denison players that saw the field in this one had more than three shot attempts.
"Today was a great team win for us," spoke
Brandon Bianco, who earned his first career win as the head coach of Denison with the victory. "We had a strong two days of preparation leading into tonight, and we are happy the result matched the performance. I am really proud of the group and look forward to continuing our development."
Denison (1-1 overall) outshot Muskingum (0-2) 11-2 in the second half.
In the goal,
Dylan Brown made four saves.
Next up for the Big Red will be a road match at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, at Marietta College before a returning to Granville, Ohio, for a four-match homestand.
