ADA, Ohio (September 22, 2021) – The first road match of the 2021 season for the Denison University women's soccer team saw the Big Red go scoreless as Ohio Northern University came away with a 1-0 victory on Wednesday evening.
Denison (4-3 overall) outshot Ohio Northern (4-2-1) 6-2 in the first half and 2-1 in the second half, but the lone shot over the final 45 minutes for the Polar Bears proved to be the game winner in the 77th minute. That would also be the lone shot on goal for ONU against the Big Red defense.
Callie Davis finished with four shots, two of which were on goal for Denison, while
Katie Harding,
Abby King and
Meg Rogan had the others.
The Polar Bears' goalkeeper, Kristy Catrine, made three saves in the first half to help keep Denison off the scoreboard.
In all, the Big Red had four shot attempts in the final seven minutes of the first half, but could not get one past the ONU defense.
Denison will look to rebound to start North Coast Athletic Conference action this weekend as the Big Red stay on the road to play at Ohio Wesleyan University at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 25.
