GRANVILLE, Ohio—Ninth-ranked Denison held off rival Ohio Wesleyan for a thrilling 11-10 victory on Saturday afternoon at Piper Stadium. With the win, Denison splits the regular season series with the Bishops, avenging Wednesday night's 14-13 loss in Delaware.
- First-year Luke Fisher scored a career-high five goals against the Bishops. That's the most goals scored by a Denison player against Ohio Wesleyan since Spencer Butler scored 7 goals against the Bishops on April 27, 2019.
- Junior TJ Spahn made his first career start in goal for Denison and it was memorable. He finished with 14 saves in 60 minutes of action.
- Denison held a 10-9 lead with 5:22 to play after an OWU goal by Henry Hasenberg.
- The Big Red responded with a goal by Camden Bowdy with 3:55 to play in the game to put DU on top 11-9.
- A Big Red turnover with 1:17 left gave the ball back to OWU with a chance to cut the lead in half. Hasenberg responded with his second-straight goal with 21 seconds left.
- Denison won the ensuing face-off and with it, the game.
- The Big Red held a 43-36 advantage in shots. Both goalies finished with 14 saves and DU held a 31-30 advantage in ground balls.
Denison (2-1, 1-1 NCAC West) returns to action on Tuesday, April 6 when they host Wabash at 7 p.m. from Piper Stadium.
