INDIANAPOLIS— Denison suffered a 12-9 loss to Division I Butler University on Wednesday afternoon. Denison, who is ranked 10
th in NCAA Division III, trailed the Bulldogs by only one at halftime. Butler scored six of the first seven goals in the second half to pull away.
- Denison was led in scoring by Molly Fischer who finished with four goals on five shots. She scored the final three goals of the game to make it a 12-9 final.
- Caroline O'Dea posted a career-high 12 saves for the Big Red. She notched seven saves in the first half and five in the second. Butler countered with a three-player attack at goalie. The trio combined for 11 saves.
- There were eight yellow cards issued in the contest resulting in five woman-up goals with three coming for Denison and two for Butler. All five of those goals came in the second half.
- Lindsay Karsh scored two goals and had two ground balls and four draw controls.
- Butler is Denison's first NCAA Division I opponent since 1998 when the Big Red suffered a 19-4 loss to Ohio State in Columbus.
Denison returns to action on Saturday, April 17 when they host Allegheny College at 2 p.m. at Piper Stadium. The Denison Sports Network broadcast will begin at 1:45 p.m.
