GRANVILLE, Ohio – Following a pair of losses to Wooster on Saturday, Denison softball returned home to Granville on Sunday where the Big Red split a doubleheader with the Scots, taking game two by a final of 7-4 after dropping the first game, 9-1.
- Looking to avenge the loss in game one, the Big Red offense came alive in game two after Denison tallied four runs in the third inning, headlined by an RBI double from Claire Powell and RBI base hits from Taylor Faulkenberg and Lexi Knipp.
- Denison carried a 5-4 lead into the sixth inning when Faulkenberg and Caitlin Ellwanger extended DU's advantage with an RBI double to left center and an RBI single up the middle, respectively.
- Knipp took control of the pitching circle for DU in game two, allowing three earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts over seven innings of work. Knipp's strong performance earned her the first win of her collegiate career.
- Sophomore Maggie Ballentine finished the day with three hits, including three runs scored and a homerun, the first of her career.
Denison returns to action on Tuesday, March 23 when they travel to Cincinnati, Ohio for a doubleheader with Mount St. Joseph University beginning at 3 p.m. MSJ is currently not allowing visiting team fans at their home events, but they will be offering a
