Women’s soccer shuts out Kenyon on Senior Day

GRANVILLE, Ohio (October 9, 2021) – Senior Patil Tcholakian recorded her third shutout of the season and second in three conference matches while fellow-seniors Abby King and Sydney Ludes connected on a goal to highlight the Denison University women's soccer team's 3-0 win over Kenyon College on Senior Day.

King, Katie Livingston, Ariel Loevy, Ludes, Na'maya Perry (team manager), Meg Rogan and Tcholakian were each recognized prior to the match as a part of the Senior Day festivities, but it will not be the last time fans will get a chance to see the group on their home field.

Including her goal on Saturday, King has logged 15 goals, seven assists and three game-winning goals in her career. She was named First-Team All-North Coast Athletic Conference and Third-Team All-Great Lakes Region in 2019.

Livingston is a center back who has been a part of 20 Big Red shutouts in her career, including Saturday's effort. She has logged five career goals, two assists and three game-winning goals. As a sophomore, Livingston was named First-Team All-NCAC and Third-Team All-Great Lakes Region, and as a freshman, she was named Honorable Mention All-NCAC.

Loevy has appeared in 38 career matches has totaled three goals, one assist and one game-winning goal in her career.

Ludes has logged one goal and six assists in her career, including her assist to King on Saturday. She was recognized at Denison's Top-50 Student-Athlete Celebration in both 2020 and 2021, and was awarded the Ted Barclay Top-5 Award in 2020.

Perry is a four-year team manager for Denison women's soccer. Her hard work has been key to Denison's success as a program. She does everything from organizing equipment, to filming games, to keeping everyone grounded and on the right track.

Rogan has appeared in 32 career matches, starting 19, and has logged one goal and one game-winning goal in her career. She was named Second-Team All-NCAC after starting all 19 matches in the Big Red midfield in 2019.

Last but not least, Tcholakian has started all 44 matches in her career as the Big Red goalkeeper, including on Saturday. In addition to playing 3,887 career minutes, Tcholakian has made 201 career saves, and is 24-12-6 overall with 19 career shutouts. She was named Second-Team All-NCAC in both 2018 and in 2019 as well as NCAC Athlete of the Week during her rookie season.

Denison's first goal on Saturday came with only two and half minutes left before halftime as sophomore Callie Davis found the back of the net with a header on the cross from the right side by junior Dulcie Heyes.

In the 58th minute, Ludes punted the ball into the box from about 20 yards out, where it found King on the far-left side for the redirect and her team-leading fifth goal of the season; and then freshman Eliza Roach came up with her first career goal on a long shot from outside the box into the top left corner of the goal in the 80th minute.

In all, Denison outshout Kenyon 16-9 overall and 9-3 in shots on goal as King led the way with seven total shots and five shots on goal.

Tcholakian and the defense also amped up the pressure in the second half, limiting the Ladies to only two shots over the final 45 minutes.

Denison improved to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference while Kenyon suffered its first conference loss to drop to 5-7 and 2-1.  

Next up for the Big Red will be a road match at DePauw University at 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, as they look to improve to 4-0 in conference play.
