Men’s soccer wins 3-0 over Wittenberg on Senior Day

GRANVILLE, Ohio (October 23, 2021) – Junior Vitor Rocha scored the first two goals of the match and freshman Cameron McIntosh added another to help lead the Denison University men's soccer team to its fourth win in a row, a 3-0 decision over Wittenberg University on Senior Day on Barclay-Thomsen Field.

It was the final home match for seven Big Red seniors, all of whom saw action on Saturday: Braden Adamson-Tate, Dylan Brown, Burke McLaughlin, Lucas Lilley, Dan Milhollen, Harrison Netburn and Stuart Windell.

Braden Adamson-Tate has appeared in 20 career matches for Denison, including making 16 starts while playing in all 17 matches as a rookie in 2018. He totaled two goals and an assist that season while leading the Big Red with 27 shots.

Dylan Brown has started 49 of the 52 matches he has played in his career as the Big Red goalkeeper. In addition to playing 4,466 career minutes, he has made 238 career saves, and is 23-18-3 overall with 15 career shutouts, including his shutout against Wittenberg on Saturday. Brown was named Second-Team All-NCAC in both 2018 and 2019 as well as earning NCAC Athlete of the Week during both of those seasons. He finished with 69 saves and five shutouts while ranking fourth in the conference with a goals-against-average of 0.97 as a junior, while as a sophomore he led the conference with 76 saves and a goals-against-average of 1.29.

Burke McLaughlin has appeared in 45 matches, starting 14. He has logged three goals, one assist, and one game-winning goal in his career. He played in all 17 of the team's matches his freshman season.

Lucas Lilley has appeared in 38 matches, starting 13. He has logged three goals, three assists, and one game-winning goal in his career. He appeared in 16 matches with seven starts his rookie season in 2017.

Dan Milhollen has appeared in 59 career matches, starting 48. He has logged one goal and two assists in his career. Dan was named Honorable Mention All-NCAC in 2018 after stating all 17 matches. As a freshman, Milhollen appeared in all 18 of the team's matches, starting 17 of them.

Harrison Netburn has played in 34 career matches with 31 starts on defense. He has logged two goals and one assist. As a sophomore, Netburn started 13 of 14 matches.

Stuart Windell has played in 46 career matches, starting 36. Windell has logged four goals, two assists, and one game-winning goal in his career. Windell played in all 17 of his team's matches both in 2018 and in 2019. As a freshman, he started a career-high 14 matches. Windell was recognized at Denison's Top-50 Student-Athlete Celebration in both 2020 and 2021, and was named to both the 2019-20 and 2020-21 NCAC Academic Honor Roll.

The goal scoring on Saturday started with Rocha in the 27th minute, and then he doubled up Denison's lead in the 58th minute on the assist by one of the seniors, Lilley. Rocha now leads the Big Red with seven goals on the season and is tied for first in points with 15.

Then in the 66th minute, McIntosh scored his fifth goal as a rookie and second in as many matches on the assist by Jake Krueger.

"I am really happy we could cap the week with another three points on Senior Day," spoke Denison's Head Coach Brandon Bianco. "It took us awhile to find our footing, but our urgency in the attack got better as the game went on and paid off."

The Big Red are now 9-4-1 overall and 5-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. In addition to earning four straight wins, all in conference action, the Big Red have recorded three shutouts during that stretch while four of their five wins in conference play have been shutouts.

Now, Denison will have two road matches to close out the regular season, beginning with a 7:30 p.m. match under the lights at Hiram College on Wednesday, October 27, before traveling to the College of Wooster for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, October 30, in its regular-season finale.
