GRANVILLE, Ohio. (October 2, 2021) – The Denison University field hockey team lost 3-0 against No. 19 the University of Lynchburg in what was the Big Red's final nonconference game of the 2021 regular season.
Maya Tumiwa had the first shot of the game for either team go off the post in the 11th minute, and then
Kristin Kelly had the first shot attempt of the second quarter, which resulted in a save in the 19th minute.
Unfortunately, after the Big Red battled to maintain a 0-0 tie at halftime behind three saves from goalkeeper
Maren Kraak, Denison was held to without a shot in the third quarter while Lynchburg scored twice in a four-minute span starting in the 38th minute.
In all, Kraak finished with six saves while Denison had only three shots total and two shots on goal as a team.
With a record of 3-5 in nonconference play, Denison will now look ahead to the start of North Coast Athletic Conference action and its final seven games of the season. Denison was 3-1 against NCAC opponents in nonconference games this season.
The Big Red's NCAC opener will be on the road at the College of Wooster as 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 7.
